The current Windows ReDist "DevKit" DLL package is vs2022_redist_14.40.33807_10.0.26100.1742 (Ref: current version info)

This consists of gathering the ReDist DLLs from the following environment (Note: The VS2022 version is different to the current VS2022 toolchain being used):

  • Visual Studio 2022 version 17.10.3 (Toolset: 14.40.33807)
  • Windows 11 SDK version 10.0.26100.1742 UCRT

As part of preparing for a "Temurin reproducible verification", as a one off task, you must securely build the equivalent Adoptium Windows DevKit from securely downloaded Microsoft components. Once this Windows DevKit is created, it can be stored in your organisation, and re-used for performing any "Temurin reproducible verifications", which are based on this same Adoptium Windows DevKit release version (vs2022_redist_14.40.33807_10.0.26100.1742).

To create a secure copy of the current Adoptium Windows DevKit, the following is the exact steps based on the instructions :

  1. Uninstall any existing Microsoft Visual Studio components from your build machine, including: VS20xx(or any other versions), Microsoft Visual Studio Installer, Microsoft C++ <year..year> Redistributables, Windows Software Development Kit and Windows SDK Addon.
  2. Download "Build Tools VS2022 LTSC 17.10.3" : https://download.visualstudio.microsoft.com/download/pr/165d4174-7d65-4baa-83d5-4652a3e56211/a49591fd4681fe829011c6d55c189fdefae51a7e1a86be1ac11f43a1a52d9ad7/vs_BuildTools.exe
  3. Install by running :
./vs_BuildTools.exe --passive --norestart --wait --arch all --add "Microsoft.VisualStudio.Workload.NativeDesktop;includeRecommended;includeOptional" --add Microsoft.VisualStudio.Component.VC.Tools.x86.x64 --add Microsoft.VisualStudio.Component.VC.Tools.ARM64 --add Microsoft.VisualStudio.Component.VC.ATL.ARM64 --add Microsoft.VisualStudio.Component.VC.MFC.ARM64
  1. Download "Windows 11 SDK version 10.0.26100.1742" : https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=2286561
  2. Install by running :
./winsdksetup.exe
  1. Create DevKit zip structure :
mkdir win_devkit
cd win_devkit
mkdir arm64
mkdir x64
mkdir x86
mkdir ucrt
cd ..
  1. Copy the following MSVC Redist DLLs for each architecture (arm64, x64, x86) from the MSVC Redist folders into the temporary directory you created :
copy "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\2022\BuildTools\VC\Redist\MSVC\14.40.33807\arm64\Microsoft.VC143.CRT\vcruntime140.dll" win_devkit/arm64
copy "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\2022\BuildTools\VC\Redist\MSVC\14.40.33807\arm64\Microsoft.VC143.CRT\vcruntime140_1.dll" win_devkit/arm64
copy "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\2022\BuildTools\VC\Redist\MSVC\14.40.33807\arm64\Microsoft.VC143.CRT\msvcp140.dll" win_devkit/arm64

copy "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\2022\BuildTools\VC\Redist\MSVC\14.40.33807\x64\Microsoft.VC143.CRT\vcruntime140.dll" win_devkit/x64
copy "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\2022\BuildTools\VC\Redist\MSVC\14.40.33807\x64\Microsoft.VC143.CRT\vcruntime140_1.dll" win_devkit/x64
copy "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\2022\BuildTools\VC\Redist\MSVC\14.40.33807\x64\Microsoft.VC143.CRT\msvcp140.dll" win_devkit/x64

copy "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\2022\BuildTools\VC\Redist\MSVC\14.40.33807\x86\Microsoft.VC143.CRT\vcruntime140.dll" win_devkit/x86
copy "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\2022\BuildTools\VC\Redist\MSVC\14.40.33807\x86\Microsoft.VC143.CRT\msvcp140.dll" win_devkit/x86
  1. Copy the Windows Kit UCRT Redist folder with the files installed by the SDK Installer :
xcopy /s "c:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\10\Redist\10.0.26100.0\ucrt\*" win_devkit\ucrt
  1. Create the required devkit.info metadata file with the following content :
echo "ADOPTIUM_DEVKIT_RELEASE=vs2022_redist_14.40.33807_10.0.26100.1742" > win_devkit/devkit.info
  1. Zip the contents :
cd win_devkit
zip -r vs2022_redist_14.40.33807_10.0.26100.1742.zip *
  1. Having completed the creation of the Windows "ReDist" DLL DevKit you can now archive this zip file for all your future "Temurin Verification Builds", as this "DevKit" is unlikely to change for quite some time.

12. I suggest completely "Uninstalling" the VS2022 you have just installed, as this is a different version to that required for your "Temurin Verification Builds".
